Cats, Queens, and Cupcakes

Hello Again!

I’m so excited for this time of the year, especially with the arrival of Halloween…the costumes, pumpkins, haunted house tours, and all the candy corn you can eat!  When it comes to costumes, I have to admit I should be more creative, and every year, I tell myself that I’ll plan ahead next year, but I never do.  Somehow I wind up scrambling the last minute to find a costume to wear, and this year was no different.  However, I recently saw a post on Bebe’s blog about costume ideas put together with some great Bebe pieces , and it totally inspired me for next year…and maybe it’ll inspire you as well!

Bebe posted 5 great costume ideas, and I wanted to share my 2 favorites:

Costume #1: Black Cat – This costume idea is my favorite one because you can dress up as Catwoman as well, and because of “The Dark Knight Rises”, it’s sure to be a popular costume this year.  Each of these pieces are perfect for Fall and sure to be worn again…all you need to add are some Cat ears!

Silk Cashmere Asymmetric Turtleneck Sweater (available in Red) – $98
Zipper Front Wet Legging – $69
Leatherette Corset Top – $49
Emma Buckle Lace Up Boots – $189
Studded Knit Glove – $59

Costume #2: Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile – This costume idea is so great because Cleopatra is one of the classic Halloween costumes, and this show-stopper look is sure to make a statement!  Also, it’s a great excuse to buy a beautiful gold maxi dress, perfect for any formal occasion.

Trya Hi-Lo Pleated Maxi Dress – $99.99
Stella Metallic Gladiator Sandal – $159
Colorblock Collar Fringe Necklace – $24
Laser Cut Cuff Bracelet – $26
Large Metal Plaque Belt – $44
Chainmail & Crystal Hand Jewelry – $29

I love these costume ideas because it’s a good excuse to go shopping and add some new pieces to your fall wardrobe 😉  And you can justify the purchases because you know you’ll be wearing them again!

And as for cupcakes, since Halloween is officially on Wednesday Oct. 31st, I will be baking Halloween cupcakes for Wednesday, which means you’ll get to see photos next Sunday! So for this week, I went and tried some cupcakes from Pamcakes, a great cupcakery here in Philadelphia.  I tried 2 flavors during my visit:

The first cupcake is their “Black and White”, a chocolate cupcake topped with vanilla buttercream frosting, and halloween sprinkles on top.  The second cupcake is their “Pumpkin Chip”, a pumpkin chocolate chip cupcake topped with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

Both cupcakes were so delicious and I look forward to trying more flavors next time!

Happy Halloween everyone 🙂
